The Good Old Days

Bobby Stewart joined the Atlanta Flames as their equipment manager prior to the 1973-74 season, and remained with the organization when it moved to Calgary in May of 1980 Stewart is responsible for all equipment and supplies for the NHL Thrashers players/coaches, his duties include sharpening skates, fixing pads and goalie equipment, ordering supplies and aiding the transportation of all the team’s equipment around the National Hockey League during the season. Stewey has been around professional ice hockey for 36 seasons. It was my honor to spend the morning with him during a road trip to Southern California and listen to him exchange stories about the 'Good Old Days' with Head Equipment Manager Doug Shearer in Anaheim. ©2009ShelllyCastellano.com
